Animal Services
The Village of Murray handles Animal Control Calls on a limited basis. We will assist residents with the following issues:
- Impounding stray dogs in an effort to discover and contact the dog’s owner
- Barking dog complaints
- Ordinance enforcement
Contact Cass County Sheriff at 402-296-9370 for the following:
- Dog bites
- Vicious or dangerous dogs
- Wildlife nuisance
- Loose livestock
The Village of Murray requires all dogs over six months of age be licensed annually by May 1. Licenses shall be issued by the Clerk after payment of the licensing fee and proof of current rabies vaccination. Download application below.
Any resident in possession of more than three (3) dogs shall obtain a kennel license.

What is the deadline to license my dog?
Dogs must be licensed with the village by May 1st of each year.
Am I allowed to have chickens on my property?
Ordinance #94.07 allows for only ten (10) or fewer female chickens to be maintained within the corporate limits of the village upon approval by the Board of Trustees. No roosters, ducks, turkeys, geese, or any other fowl are permitted. Contact the Clerk's Office at 402-235-2119 to request the permitting procedure to have chickens on your property.
